Let’s take boring history and make it fun! Unfold history by going back in time. Your child will write a script with their classmates and reenact history again. They will learn about the tools used in the past and create props for the play. Their Instructor will help your child understand the history through reading and discussions. On the last day of the week, they will perform in front of all the parents and bring home a handmade memorabilia they made in camp.
Interaction Time:
- Begin the day by interacting with one another and the teacher while waiting for everyone to arrive.
History Reading:
- Students will explore the time period they are studying through reading and discussing the history with their instructor. During this time students can ask questions and the instructors will explain in details about the history.
Group Script Writing:
- After reading, the students will gather togther and create a script with the Instructor to reenact the history they've learned. This script will be used in their performance at the end of the week.
Make Props:
- This is the time the instructor will teach the students about the tools, weapons, and clothings that are used during that time period and together they will make props that will be used during the performance.
Rehearsal:
- The students will rehearse the script and practice acting out their performance before the big day.
Watch History Videos:
- Students will be able to watch and learn about the history through videos so they can visualize the time period and see what it is really like during the time period they are learning. This will not be longer than one hour a week. We understand limiting screen time is important!
Discussion Circle:
- After watching the video, the Instructor will discuss with the students what they have watched and explain any confusions or questions they may have.
Craft your History:
- Students will take this time to craft a momento to remind themselves of the time period they are learning. Depending on the projects, they can be 3D clay models, water color paintings, paper crafts, foam crafts, and more.
Game Time:
- After an eventful day, it is time to relax and play with the new friends they made in class. We have many educational and strategy games the students can choose from to play with their new friends while waiting for their parents to pick them up.
Performance to Parents:
- Every Friday at 2pm is Performance Time for the family. You will get to see your child perform the script they wrote together and using the props they made in class.
