Ms. Ruby Chen M.S. & M.B.A.

  • MS Biochemistry & Molecular Biology USC (Honors)
  • MBA UC Davis (Full Scholarship Recipient – Honors)

As a prior science researcher at Stanford University & UCSF who has co-authored 5 publications, I have always been passionate about teaching. And I have had over a decade of teaching experience. Teaching gives me much joy because effective tutoring helps students realize their academic potential and pave the way for a more rewarding career.

Over the years, I have tutored many students in the SAT, ACT, writing, and regular and AP courses in Math and Science. Furthermore, I have taught SAT Prep in the Bay Area since 2015. My background in Science and Math allows me to break down complex concepts into straightforward ideas. Students really appreciate the simple and intuitive explanations of abstruse concepts.

I do not follow a one-size fits all teaching method. My customized approach aims to enhance the student’s strengths and improve his/her weaknesses. The goal is to build a solid foundation upon which knowledge continues to accumulate. If the student has advance standing already, I can also help increase their scores further more. In addition, I teach students study skills and strategies so that they will become more effective learners. Over the years, some of my students have scored upward of 1400 on the SAT and have been admitted to colleges like UC Berkeley, USC, UCLA, and  Ivy Leagues.

Course structure

  • The 6-session (18 hours) course will cover strategies, techniques, and concepts. Since the SAT’s format has changed, students will learn how to approach the exam in the new format. They will also learn my Secret Calculator Method, so they can derive the answers faster in Math. In English, they will learn to boost their scores by studying the concepts to the questions.
  • Two practice tests will be assigned to complete at home during the course.
  • Students will need to bring a computer or tablet to class.
  • Questions about the class can be emailed to instructor Ruby at 26alphaprep@gmail.com.  To understand the instructor’s qualifications and read testimonials, please visit https://www.26alphaprep.com/
